Dr. Fereshteh Didegah is a post-doctoral researcher at the Research Unit for the Sociology of Education (RUSE) at University of Turku, Finland, where she is working on the intersection of traditional citations and novel altmetric indicators, focusing on statistical modeling of altmetric indicators and the broad impact of open science, and developing new indicators of research impact.
She completed her PhD in 2014 at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. In her PhD thesis Didegah applied a new advanced statistical test to analyze factors associating with citation impact.
Her research interests include quantitative methods in scientometrics, webometrics, and altmetrics. More specifically she is interested in research approaches that employ big data, innovative methodologies, new statistical procedures, up-to-date scientometrics, and visualization tools. In her research Didegah wants to focus on topics that are of interdisciplinary nature, and that are of paramount importance to science and research policy makers.
She has previously worked as a webometric advisor for Soran University in the Kurdistan region and at a citation and information center at Shiraz University in Iran, collaborating in different scientometric research projects, developing a national citation center, and contributing to the national university ranking program in Iran.
